Compulsory Standards Relating to Milk and Dairy Products Food Safety and Quality

The National Regulator for Compulsory Standards enforces the following standards (extensions of the regulations) in terms of the Trade Metrology Act, 1973, Act 77 of 1973:

• SANS 289:2016 – Edition 1.06
  Labelling requirements for prepackaged products (prepackages) and general requirements for the sale of goods subject to legal metrology control
• SANS 458:2011 – Edition 1.02
  Tolerances permitted for the accuracy of measurements of products (including pre-packaged products) in terms of legal metrology legislation
• SANS 1841:2015 – Edition 2.01
  Control of the quantity of contents in prepacked packages within the prescriptions of legal metrology legislation
